Dell Mini 9 Laptop Review
Cute, compact and easy are just few words to define the new range of mini laptops. With every other brand lurking around the corner with their series of netbooks, Dell could not have been too far long. This petite notebook measures 9.1 x 6.8 x 1.3 inches and weighs just 2.8 pounds and with an 8.9-inch glossy screen the Dell Mini 9 has become one of the preferred mini-notebooks today.
Don’t be fooled by its small and petite look, the Dell mini 9 is not only lively with varying colors and 1024 x 600 WSVGA lustrous LED backlit display but proves extremely functional when you’re the kind who prefers compactness to huge laptops. Dell mini 9 allows you quick movement of work and virtual memory with its 1GB DDR2 533MHz (1 DIMM). Dell really worked through its mini laptop series and took time to develop just the right mini notebook because it is the only notebook in its class allowing easy upgrading of wireless cards, RAM and SSD.
You may have to carefully work around function keys like F11 and F12, but that would not deter you from being awed by its performance since its 1.6GHz N270 Intel Atom Processor gives quick processing for various applications. On an average the Dell mini 9 takes 15 – 20 seconds to initiate and accessing Office applications or PDF documents would take 3-5 seconds.
Usually one would perceive that a mini notebook could never dole out picture quality or clear viewing, this is where Dell’s mini 9 proves you wrong. The 1024 x 600-pixel resolution screen gives comfortable viewing of your favourite movies with its clear display and colour clarity and decent sound quality. Web conferencing has become so much easier with 1.3 Megapixel webcam and its 4-Cell 32Wh Li-ion battery (14.8V) gives you enough battery life to survive at least 3 hours without an electrical connection. Dell’s mini notebooks need not be restricted only to children or teens, but is extremely applicable for official people who are more akin to constantly moving around and do not want heavy baggage loaded on them.
