In the family of notebooks, Apple MacBook Air is the lightest in light-n- thin-weight laptops. The device is based on Intel processor. Air has shiny silver color aluminum body of Pro model. The keyboard is backlit. Due to its curved edges, this model is far attractive in looks than MacBook Pro.

  • It is thin and light – Apple seriously took the step of removing some conventional features of laptop to make the model light. The model is devoid of Fire Wire ports. There is no CD and DVD drive and the internal storage is limited; peripheral connections are limited. The screen is lighted from behind through light emitting diode (LED), which turns to its full brightness almost with blinking of eyes in comparison to MacBook, which gradually comes to full brightness. Its screen is 13.3 inches of 1280×800 pixels. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor where it works on is a slower version of the processor and is on 1.6 GHz chip, developed for Air. The processor is not as power-efficient as a standard one would be but, for normal usage it seems acceptable.
  • The screen – With LED backlit screen, MacBook Air provides bright and lively on screen display. This is a very agreeable convenience as compared to somewhat indistinct displays on smaller models with 8-11 inches screen. Engadget editor used in the Air gives sufficient power to make such high quality crisp display. The glossy screen reflects light to make it inconvenient to use it in brightly lit areas.

For those who would not mind doing away with speed factor of MacBook Air, it is a good choice in light and thin range of laptops. However, a further added feature of Air is ultra portable keyboard that balances width of the body. The keyboard is stout and tuff. Watching movies and playing games on Air is a problem. The absence of specific graphic adapter to make the model lightweight, contributes to reduced speed for such purposes. The 2GB RAM is housed directly into small motherboard. The model has 80 GB 1.8 inch drive, barely an equivalent of portable media players. On the whole performance wise Air is dependable model for the niche it is marketed.
